Seven Patients

I worked this past weekend three days in a row.  Here are some highlights:

• Dying patient who's wife isn't ready to left go,
• Blood sugar of 26,
• PEG tube pulled out,
• Patient fell,
• "Come look at my poop, please,"
• Demented patient hit me, twice,
• Zone page to the floor, Asystole, but it was a false alarm,
• Scheduled computer downtime,
• Cutest little old man who got ignored because it was crazy.

So yeah, it was my first time with 7, that's right 7, patients.  Something not atypical for my floor.  40 beds. 6 nurses + a charge nurse.

I've been a nurse about four and a half months now, and it's been a wild ride already.
